What is Creative Visualization?
Creative Visualization in the most simplistic of definitions is a Manifestation (Creation) Tool.
Creative Visualization is any creative process by which you Visualize an image, either in your mind’s eye or tangibly, of your desired outcomes and put intention, emotion and energy into this image so that it can express itself in your reality.
The process of intentional Creative Visualization will start as a conscious effort and action, but it relies on reprogramming the subconscious mind to store and access this image, and to remember the feelings and emotions the image has provoked.
Once your subconscious is activated and programmed with these images, thoughts and feelings, on one level you begin to believe you have already experienced this image and here you are within the realms of quantum jumping realities, entering into a new state of being. Your brain sends signals to your nervous system to truly embody this, leading to vibrational alignment and inspired action to match up to this image.

Examples of Creative Visualization
Examples of this could be allowing yourself to daydream, meditation, writing down your goals and action steps and imagining yourself accomplishing them, spelling and scripting, drawing, gardening, grounding and planting seeds, moon gazing, the list is as infinite as our creative potential and our awareness of the creative abundance and power around us and how to access it.
Writing out this Article in itself is a process of Creative Visualization. Allowing oneself to get into the energetic flow for the words to come, those thoughts being expressed through the writing out the words, formatting these words into an article with headings, text and images. To see in the mind’s eye of imagination the finished product and hitting that publish button.
If you are not using Creative Visualization as part of your Manifestation Rituals then there is no better time than to start right now. This is one of the easiest, quickest and most effective ways to check in with your dreams, higher self and goals .

The Fundamentals of Creative Visualization
There is not a set way you should be doing Creative Visualization but there is knowledge you should attempt to learn and concepts to grasp that allow for the most effortless and powerful Manifestation from your Visualization practices.
To become aware of your connection to the Creative Source and opening your connection so that this Source Energy can flow through you is a fundamental starting point before beginning Creative Visualization practice. Ways to open this channel could be:
- Meditation or Guided Meditation
- Yoga or Mudras
- Mantras
- Grounding
- Breathwork
- Hypnosis
- Asking the Universe and Your Guides questions
- Practicing Dream Interpretation or Lucid dreaming
- Singing, humming or public speaking to open your Throat Chakra
- Art, drawing, dancing and creative expression
- Reading about, and opening up yourself, to learning about ancient wisdom, metaphysics, esoteric and cosmic consciousness knowledge. (You can sign up to my newsletter to receive monthly book recommendations about these topics below)
Questions to ask yourself or your guides:
- How is my connection feeling towards the creative source ?
- Am I open to receiving messages from Source Energy ?
- Am I allowing myself to be divinely guided in this moment?
- How do I understand the creative life force energy?
- Do I believe in myself as a powerful creator
The next fundamental component of Creative Visualization is the Creativity component. Let yourself be truly creative. Try different techniques and tools and see which ones resonate, become inspired by others and nature, get into the creative flow and surrender to the process.
5 Creative Ways to Practice Visualization:
1. Pinterest
This has to be one of my all time favourite tools for Manifestation. Firstly, it’s FUN. Anything that sparks joy, especially creative joy, will naturally enhance your Manifestation. With this easily accessible app at your fingertips, you can create and add to your Pinterest boards whenever you feel inspired, with over 200 Billion Pins to choose from, you will always find the inspiration you are looking for. Check out my Goddess Fashion Board to see how I use Pinterest to playfully inspire my style and manifest my dream clothes.
2. Mood Board
The good, old fashioned Vision Board. Before the Digital Revolution we were forced to print out our photos, keep scrap books, make collages and source posters for our room, yet now it is far too easy to overlook the basics. In a time where everything we want is accessible with a quick internet search, have we lost the magic of just allowing a magazine or other imagery into our life as a source of wonder and inspiration? The creative in me feels fulfilled adding to my cork boards hung up on my office wall. The act of finding something in a Magazine or by surprise adds to the vibration of excitement that is a perfect match for manifestation.
If making a physical Mood Board feels overwhelming for you, or you prefer to keep your dreams private (for now) then start small with a photograph at your desk or on your mirror that you can check in with everyday.
3. Cultural Immersion
We all know the saying you are what you eat, well, this applies to more than just food. We are what we consume and our main consumption of the day is most likely Media. From the moment you wake up when you open up your Smartphone , until you are laying in bed, scrolling on your device until you fall asleep.
Our concentration and thoughts are bombarded with distractions and more importantly, agenda.
This is why it is more crucial than ever to be aware of our consumption. One must practice discernment when it comes to our desires, but once we are clear on what it is we truly want, we can turn this potentially problematic scenario of manipulation into a tool for our own advancement.
Do you want to manifest financial stability in your life? Start to watch tutorials, videos or shows that emulate this success. Choose those individuals that you feel are the most inspiring when it comes to financial stability and buy their books or courses and start to speak their language. Read the Finances in the newspaper, listen to podcasts on investing, join a Facebook group relevant to your Financial or business interests.
If you want to start practicing Yoga, follow your favourite Yogi’s on Social Media.
A point to remember is that if this strategy is to be effective you need to find genuine happiness in others’ success, see my article here about How I learned to embrace my jealousy instead of hiding from it.
Another good starting point would be to immerse yourself in the history of the practice. Yoga is more than the trend you see on Instagram and by learning about the roots to this Spiritual practice you can learn to embody it more holistically.
You could also find Yoga groups in your area and a teacher who you feel connected to. Invest in a beautiful Yoga Mat or Yoga attire that inspires you daily to show up to your practice. You could even find playlists on spotify for your Yoga Practice at home to provide you with a deeper experience.
These are all examples of ways you can experientially engage yourself in the lifestyles of which you desire, whatever they may be. In turn, tuning you into that vibration of what it is you want in order for you to match that vibration in your own life.
4. Phone Background
At first read this might sound a little, well, little. But hear me out, how many times a day do you check your phone? Do you realize how many times a day that is that you are staring at that same image? So much so you probably aren’t even aware of how this can shift your perception or thoughts so quickly because most of the time we are mindlessly picking up our phone to check it, wide open to influence.
What is it that you truly desire? Whether it is via a picture of an object or an experience or quote, go for the feeling. What is it that you want to feel?
Once you are clear on that, find an image that invokes this feeling in you and set it as your background.
I’ve also seen people go one step further with this by sorting their applications on their phone into affirmations and motivational images as the app image. For example, all your financial apps would be in a folder label ‘I Am Rich’. If this is something that would make you feel good and empowered, by all means try it out, but I would suggest trying the other techniques listed here first and referring back to the Fundamentals of Creative Visualization in this Article for more genuine and meaningful ways to Manifest.
5. Mirror Magick
Number five on this list is Mirror Magick, but I must warn you that this is one of the most powerful tools on this list and to be prepared for a depth of emotions to be brought to the surface as well as deep levels of change to occur. It might also feel uncomfortable at first to use a Mirror in this way as many of us go through our lives never witnessing our true selves.
The Mirror and Reflection has been a powerful tool used for Magick since Ancient Civilizations. From the obsidian mirrors of Mesoamerican culture to Ancient Greece, Mirrors were seen as a portal into the spiritual realms and in many cases used to reveal the future or our parallel lives.
Taking this ritualistic and spiritual significance of the Mirror as a Portal, and particularly in its abilities to see int the future, it follows that we could indeed use Mirrors as a way to shape this future, and even to use these Portals to quantum leap into our desired life.
You can use any Mirror as a Portal into your desired reality when you know how to use it properly. Some of the Creative ways you can use Mirrors in this way are:
- Simple yet transformative, practice Self Love in the Mirror by saying ‘I love you’ to yourself as many times as feels good to you. This is an important part of getting into alignment with Creative Source Energy, which is aligned with the Vibration of Love.
- Asking the Mirror (yourself) what you truly want, what your soul wants. You might be surprised of what comes up!
- Shadow work and shedding the layers of the ego and trauma to reveal our true selves and essence, becoming more aligned with our Souls Purpose
- Standing in front of the Mirror and imagining yourself standing in your ideal location whether that be a house, beach, stage, get creative and as specific as possible. You can also imagine yourself with your ideal partner, your dream style or clothes, your ideal body, features or posture. This is similar to the ‘Cinematic Manifestation Magick’ technique discussed in the next section.
Have you ever heard the saying that when you are angry you should look in the Mirror? The power of the Mirror can be cleary seen by simply standing in front of it and seeing how your appearance can change as quickly as you change your thoughts. It allows us to see the power of Creative Visualization and Manifestation in action, where we change our thoughts and as a result we can change physically. This empowers us to continue on our journey as Creators. Let me know if you are going to try this powerful alchemical tool in the comments below.
6. Creative Editing
As someone who loves creative graphics and design (Just take a look at my Pinterest), this is the next level in satisfaction for me. Here’s what you have to do:
- Find a quiet place to site down and clear your mind
- Let yourself be guided by daydream, what does your perfect life look like right now?
- Choose one goal that you’ve achieved in this perfect life. Is that a supportive community on social media, an interested audience in your Youtube channel, a dream travel experience, or a book with your name on it?
- Once you have this clear goal in mind, it’s time to get out Canva or another editing tool. Take a screenshot or save a photo that corresponds with this goal. Now edit yourself in there!
For example, if it’s the community on social media you are aiming for, take a screenshot of your instagram handle and edit it to have more followers and more of your dream content. Write some messages out from this community. What are they saying to you? Edit this into photo so that is looks like it’s come into your inbox.
If it’s a book that you’ve written, find a blank book cover template. Fill it in with your dream title, your name as the Author and even a photo of you.
For me, I’m in the process of making a Podcast, and I’ve edited my Podcast cover into a screenshot from the Podcasts app.
Something to remember when doing this exercise is that you might have a really clear vision or goal you want, but this vision or goal might just be leading you towards something that’s different, but ultimately going to give you even more fulfilment. Remain open to the infinite potentials and paths in this life that can lead you to what you want.
The Minds Eye of Creative Visualization
What is the mind’s eye? It can be best described as one’s eye of perception and imagination. We interpret all that we see through this mind’s eye, and our reality is shaped by our mind’s eye perceptions.
If we are making sense of the world based on our perceptions of it, logic then follows that we can alter the world based on altering our perception of it. Once we understand this, we realize our mind’s eye is a powerful tool of change. The more we work with this tool, the better we understand it, and the more results we see.
If we can imagine we can create. Learning to tap into this potential, becoming dedicated to flexing your mind’s eye of creation, and following the tips outlined above to open your channels to Source Energy, you will be able to enter a channel of creative energy that both gives and receives creative abundance.
One of the techniques used for Creative Visualization is what I call Cinematic Manifestation Magick:
- Make sure you are in a clear headspace and relaxed state, if possible after practicing one of more of the Fundamentals of Creative Visualization discussed at the beginning of this article.
- Get comfortable and in place that is as quiet as possible, or put on your headphones with some music that you feel aligns to your desires in this moment.
- Close your eyes and imagine a Movie or TV Screen, not at eye level but just above eye level (so that you have to look upwards). On this Screen you begin to watch a Movie about your life. This is the life you have always wanted. You feel proud and moved with gratitude at all you have accomplished. Allow whatever emotions arise to come up to the surface so that you can feel into them.
- You can do this for as long or as little as you like, providing you give it the attention it deserves within the moment. Come back to yourself gently. It’s ok if you fall asleep afterwards.
Whether you use the Cinematic Manifestation Magick Technique or just your imagination, aligning up to these images emotionally and energetically is key in this Creative Visualization technique.
Blocks to Creative Visualization
Whether you are consciously aware of it or not, you are constantly in the process of Creative Visualization. Take a look around you right now, everything that you see at some point was just a vision in someone’s minds eye.
Our sacred birth right as creators means that our own personal Creative Visualization manifestations can never be ‘blocked’, however, our ability to tap into this Source energy, and simultaneously come into alignment with our Visionary desires and creations, all depends on the connection we have with ourselves, Consciousness and our understanding and belief of the Universal Magick Laws.
To begin or improve your co-creation with the Universe, you must first address the fundamentals of your belief systems, your mind-body connection and nurturing, and your connection to the Sacred and Spiritual.
Creative Visualization and Motherhood
The ways to practice Creative Visualization above are easily accessible to the busy or overwhelmed Mom. In fact it can be a great way to take small actions towards your bigger dreams when you have little time for anything else.
You can also incorporate these activities into playtime. Depending on the age of your Children you can create Mood Boards or Vision boards together cutting up Magazines. You can talk to your Child about their hopes and aspirations and create Art around this. You can even make Time Capsules together around these desires for the future, that you can then open later to see if any of these images or dreams have happened in the time since.
